Why to get your company ISO 14001
certified?
Today's, the protection of the environment and the
prevention of pollution are major issues.
ISO 14001's recognized approach is implemented to
support the protection of the environment by systematically reducing
the impact of the environmental aspects that an organization can
control.
Like ISO 9001, ISO 14001 is applicable to any type of
company without regard to its size, in a context of continual
improvement.
Pollution or wastes often indicate that resources are
used inefficiently. An Environmental Management System (EMS) that is
well designed will allow identifying opportunities for cost savings.
The implementation of an EMS can generate innovations,
technological or process developments that will reduce the cost of a
product. It may also help to protect organizations against legal
liabilities.
An ISO 14001 certification will improve a company's
environmental management and give access to the growing “green” market.

What are SR&ED tax credits?
The Scientific Research and Experimental Development tax
credits can be claimed for expenditures such as wages, materials,
machinery, equipment, some overhead, and contracts used in research and
development activities performed in Canada by corporations, individuals
and unincorporated businesses to advance the scientific or
technological knowledge, create new or improved, or state-of-the-art
products or processes.
Activities that qualify for SR&ED tax credits may
include:
-
Basic and applied research, and experimental
development
-
SR&ED support activities such as engineering,
design, operations research, mathematical analysis, computer
programming, data collection, testing, or psychological research.
Generally, a Canadian-controlled private corporation
(CCPC) can earn an investment tax credit of 35% of qualified
expenditures. Non CCPC percentages are slightly less. In addition, a
CCPC performing SR&ED activities may claim a refundable provincial
tax credit of 35% on salaries paid in Quebec; rules vary with each
province.
